Leicester & Leicestershire Freelancers Network Launches with a Grand Networking and Co-Working Fundraiser at Holiday Inn

Leicester & Leicestershire Freelancers Network – Connecting Passion with Purpose!

Leicester & Leicestershire Freelancers Network (LLFN) is proud to announce its official launch with an exclusive Networking and Co-Working Day, set to take place on the 30th of January 2024, at the prestigious Holiday Inn, St Nicholas Circle, Leicester.

Since returning to Leicester in 2021 after 13 years away, LLFN founder Guy Walsh has been networking endlessly in an attempt to find services and events that serve the city’s freelancers.

Guy said:

“There are nearly 35,000 businesses in Leicester & Leicestershire with between one and four employees. Despite this, most local business events are aimed at enterprises at the larger end of the SME spectrum. I wanted to create a resource that not only supports local freelancers, but champions them too. I also wanted to take direct action to help a charity that provides much-needed support to homeless people, and I can’t thank the Holiday Inn enough for providing the space for this fundraiser.”

Jo Peck, Sales & Marketing Manager at the Holiday Inn, is also pleased to be able to support the venture:

“The Leicester & Leicestershire Freelancer Network is a unique way for business individuals to get together, share ideas, expand their networks, and identify new opportunities. Leicester Holiday Inn is delighted to support and host this fantastic initiative which will not only help improve business relations in the city but also help raise money for a worthy cause.”

Lee Hardy, Fundraising & Communications Manager at Falcon Support Services said:

“It is great that local business leaders and entrepreneurs like Guy are getting behind Falcon, particularly during what is a challenging time for us after receiving cuts to funding from County Council. Homelessness, addiction, social isolation and poor mental health are on the rise and can happen to anyone. At Falcon we work with extremely vulnerable individuals with complex needs to get them housed and in a place where they can independently maintain a tenancy. Local business can really have a significant impact on our community when they come together to support organisations like ours by helping to raise awareness and generate much needed income.”

The Networking and Co-Working Day promises a dynamic platform for professionals to connect, collaborate, and share ideas, as well as marking the inception of Leicester & Leicestershire Freelancers Network.

All proceeds raised from the launch event will go to Falcon Support Services. These funds will play a crucial role in supporting the Falcon Centre, a 30-bed hostel offering essential accommodation and support services to those experiencing homelessness.

The Falcon Centre serves as a vital lifeline for the community, providing supported accommodation and delivering recovery, well-being, and support sessions. The Centre faces an imminent threat of closure due to funding challenges, making the proceeds from this event integral to its continued operation. The Falcon Centre is seeking to raise £200,000 by 31st March 2024. Failure to reach this target could force the Centre to shut its doors, leaving vulnerable individuals without critical support.

Following the launch, the Networking and Co-Working Day will become a monthly event, with a website in progress at www.leicesterfreelancers.co.uk and further events planned to support and champion freelancers in Leicester and Leicestershire.
